In Motion - ongoing research into mobility

My journey

Contemporary dancer, choreographer, and performer, 49 years old, living in Montpellier, France. fb:app_id portfolio da

Trained in the state diploma of contemporary dance then in training for dancers at the National Choreographic Center of Montpellier. I very quickly put aside the desire to pursue the profession of performer, (spent a year in Lisbon in Portugal), as well as that of being only a teacher, to transmit dance through workshops with a very large and often fragile public, within various structures and institutions (social, cultural, educational ...) Maud Chabrol dancer

Movement and creation have not left me, and in these workshop times I approach the first phase of creation, that of the search for material, without having to fix, to memorize, to redo... just to invent on the spot through the experience of the body, mixing the tools of various body practices, including sophrology, in which I am recently certified.

In love with spaces, I propose to work differently, elsewhere, outdoors, in public spaces, not appropriated, in nature, in museums. Spaces filled with presences, visible, invisible, perceptible which animate and direct my work towards a permanent research. The environment, the sounds, the rhythms, the circulations, the light, nourish me to compose, exchange, share, experiment in the present, around the singular in the collective. Weave, share, see differently, propose a less formal way of discovering the implementation of a body in mobility, from other criteria, other issues, other approaches, in environments which bring to the proposal a much more lively scenography, and where the public itself becomes an actor.

It is through this instantaneous performative form that I go to meet him, at the heart of everyday life, to experiment with these propositions, however ephemeral they may be, and to make them visible and accessible to all.

Always starting with a framework derived from a trace as a guiding thread, I then let it in turn feed on the moment, to draw on the most accurate part of the proposal and include new elements. Each session transforms while building itself over time. Never seeking to redo the same thing, even if there may be repetition.

In 2019, Benin called me... I left to offer workshops in an art therapy center, always using the same process, where we search, or we feel with the body, to let other ways of saying, of thinking, of questioning, of expressing emerge.

After this experience in Africa, where I met artists with whom we so simply weave our practices, I returned charged and transformed.

Filled with freedom and the desire to bring my own body into play in these proposals,

My travels will continue to repeat themselves ever since.

Since 2021, I have been focusing on performance, based on the work of visual and textile artists, French and Beninese, in France and Benin.

These experiences, which are only the beginning of wonderful encounters and collaborations, add meaning to the direction I wish to take with my current work.

In January 2025, winner of the Culture Moves Europe mobility grant (Goethe Institute and European Union). A joint research period, which took place in Lisbon, around the rites of African communities living in Lisbon. This ongoing work focuses on the creation of a lexicon, based on the fundamentals of Vodun in Benin.
